8-304. Investigation of alleged acts of delinquency, dependency and incorrigibility

A. The law enforcement officer having jurisdiction in the place in which an act of delinquency or incorrigibility is alleged to have occurred shall have the responsibility for the complete investigation surrounding the alleged commission of the act.

B. A child protective services specialist of the department shall have the responsibility for the complete investigation of all complaints of alleged dependency, and a criminal conduct allegation shall be investigated in cooperation with the appropriate law enforcement agencies and according to the protocols established pursuant to section 8-817. The department shall be responsible for the disposition of such child unless the matter requires the intervention of the court. For the purposes of this subsection, "criminal conduct allegation" has the same meaning prescribed in section 8-801.
